Clinical Microbiology: BIOL5200

​

CourseObjectives:  To learn and understand the clinical microbiology with an emphasis on the causative agents. Understanding their structure, growth, virulence factors, manipulation and control, as well as the signs and symptoms of disease. You will be required to actively contribute to the discussion and direction of the material and content in lecture material, additional reading and laboratory experiments.

 

Enhance your understanding of clinically relevant organisms/entities and how their survival strategies can alter the physiological responses of a host.

 

We will achieve these goals by

 

1.   Providing basis and basics of the information in class.

2.   Test your ability to understand the material and to solve critical thinking questions

Recommended Textbook: Medical Microbiology by Patrick Murray, Ken Rosenthal and Michael Pfaller, Mosby, Elsevier 

 

CoursePrerequisites: BIOL1020 or BIOL1027, BIOL3200, CHEM1030. CHEM2070 is recommended,  but not required.
